The September Soul's Orientation live-in retreat is open to those who have taken Mining the Gold. In this rare opportunity of living in a community of spiritual and psychological inquiry, we will focus on the pleasure of holding on and letting go.
Jelaluddin Rumi
September 30th is the birthday of the best selling poet in America, Jelaluddin Rumi. Rumi's spiritual focus began through books and knowledge, and yet it was only after meeting with the mysterious Shemz-i-Tabriz and surrendering his head to his heart, that he became a world renowned mystic whose poetry touches the hearts of humans all over our small fragile world. His poetry speaks the language of love: not the attachment of the ego or the business deal of trading affection that most of us equate with love, but an energetic state of love that is the very fabric and glue of the depths of our beings and the universe.
Rumi composed his poetry while turning around a pole for hours. The spiritual meditation of this turning dance of Rumi and his followers (the Whirling Dervishes) aligns one into surrender and inshallah (God willing) dissolving into the heart and its qualities of love. There is a still point in the center where all life revolves around the turning. Rumi knew this place in which one becomes the motion of the stars and galaxies and the revolution of the atoms within, and the stillness. He knew this beyond books into the very cells of his being.
Rumi's poetry and the turning meditation open us to the sweet energies of love beyond the ego, whether it comes as gentle, pink and fluffy love that opens our heart to friendship, a golden merging love where two become one, a passionate and juicy red orange love that fuels us, or the ultimate love of annihilation where the lover dissolves into the fabric of the universe. Love is Rumi's balm for our overly fixated minds.
Join us for an evening of poetry, sacred dance, turning and love in celebration of Rumi!
